Why have a sleeper on a dumptruck?

Went to a tractor truck pull last weekend and saw a new 2002 3/4 ton 4x4 Chevy gasser pull and break. He had 1200# of weights on the front bumper and near the end of the track it bounced a couple of times, and the tie rods both bent. The wheels went to the stops both steering inward and the left cv exploded. When I went to look later i was shocked by the 1/2" rod for tie rods. Both were bent like spagetti. When shopping for your new 4x4 maxipad check the front end out!!:--)

... yep. . there is one guy on the dieselpage forum [penutgrwr iirc?]that broke a tie rod on his dmax. he was running c3h8 and the edge juice box and power launching in 4x4... it didn't like that. .

Yep, better chuck up some 3" OD rod and make yerself some new tie rods 'cause those factory GM pieces are just too wimpy and they'll leave you stranded at the Piggly-Wiggly after you try to hop that curb in front of LuLu.

Give me a break. Can you say exceeding the design intent by a long shot?

I wouldn't be hopping the front end up and down with 1200lbs strapped to the bumper even with the Dana 60. Maybe GM's tie rods are weak but that particular situation is pretty abusive for any 4x4.
