I just purchased a used Warn 12,000 lb winch for my (soon to be refinished) DOR bumper. It was originally mounted on a Chebby and was purchased at an auction with the winch mount . The mechanics of it seem to be fine. But I have some questions and thoughts.
Due to the age of the winch (about 4 - 5 years old) Should I replace the cable? The original winch mount came with a Hawse fairlead and the cable has a little oxidation on it, But no cuts or anything. I'm also looking to replace it with a Roller fairlead. What size wire is needed?
The Electrical cables look a bit old so I'll be running new cables. I've been looking at Warn's quick connect mounts. These are the ones you can disconnect to plug in a set of Jumper cables. Does anyone else make something like this so I don't have to pay Warn pricing.
Any good online winch or grainger type shops out there that has decent pricing.
I'll be replacing the batteries as well. Those new odyssey 2150's look sweet but I may be fine with the 1700's. Is there any Batteries that have the accessory tiedowns to use for the winch? Would I want too???
Whatcha all think? Comments (as always) are appreciated.
Thanks,
Kevin
