The Drought is over in Chicago IL

Swine Flu Source Revealed!

Would like to thank all that gave ideas on the tower that we put up for a wind generator for our Son's place. Its up and WE BE HAVING ELECTRICTY BEING MADE CAPTIAN!!!!!Its making 5kw wind gen alone!!! we made our own solar panels and are getting ready to install them for an additional 2400 watts charging 30 Trojan 125 6V batteries. His system is Grid Tied and when the batt's get fully charged it will automatically change over to running the local power company's meter BACKWARDS :D Which means they are getting power from Son to the grid, kind of a odd set up grid tied usally has no batteries just put back to the grid but its SO UNRELIABLE up here, this way they will have power no matter what.

Thanks

BIG

Its a good deal its takes awhile to pay for it but in 2 to 3 years its all free power for him and he has the ability to run 220v tools without running a aux gen like I have to. Sure was happy when we raised the gen up it turned and faced the wind the blades came out just like they were supposed to and started turning looked at the meter and 5kw right off the bat no adjustments to be made. FIL/Son said you can breath now!!!!! I wasn't so sure of things for a bit :-laf

Of course when it worked I HAD NO DOUBT IN MY MIND THAT IT WOULD WORK

Hey BIG, What type of safety isolation device was used to prevent backfeeding the utility grid in a power outage, and "lighting" up a lineman... Jess

JJ I hope this answer your question.

Say the power is normal on both sides and the local power company goes out. If the Sons equipment is in the charge batteries mode it will stay that way and will only charge his batteries until they become fully charged. When they are at full charge the charge coming from the wind gen and solar has to be dissipated some how or equipment damage will occur so there are 6 loads they look like giant coils they take the charge and change it into heat and that is dissipated off. If Sons equipment is in the supply power to the power company grid and the local power goes out then it will go back to charge Sons batteries only again. In Normal operation when the Sons batteries are full charge the charge controller will sense that the batteries are charged and switch to putting power to the local power grid and the power company gird meter will run backwards. Any time the Son is running on local power company grid power the meter runs just like any other gird tied meter. If what your asking is how do they service the power lines for the power company without getting a jolt from Sons equipment if it would change from charge batteries to put power out to the local grid. There are several ways 1 they have a power box at the pole that is just ON and OFF 2 they can come to the house and it has the same thing ON and OFF and they can pull the meter in any of these cases it will make Son's equipment think that the local power has had a problem and go back to charge batteries only and when the local power is restored then Son will have to reset his equipment to be looking for power from the local grid if not it will stay on charge batteries only. The picture is kind of like we have at the side of the house only the wire is in conduit and on the side of the house not a pole. The power company has a ON and OFF box in a locked box at the Hwy on their pole. The schematic is almost like what we have expect that on our side of the A/C disconnect box in the lower right had corner we also have hook up for wind gen and aux gen to charge batteries. They were really kind of weird about NOT HAVING THE AUX GEN be able to supply power to the Local power grid for what ever reason I dont know. But the main A/C disconnect in the lower right will separate the equipment from each other.

Just to make sure that anyone thinks that Son is SELLING power to the local grid is wrong the meter will keep track of how much Son uses from grid (he needs some 220V and his system can supply it but short term) the meter will track his use and his output to the grid and the difference is what he will pay. Hopefully we have figured his power needs correctly and he wont have to pay for any if he uses his Aux gen when he needs 220V and if he should use local grid for 220V the supply TO the grid will offset the use.

PS AND SOME BIG A LIGHTNING GOUND RODS AT THE POLE,HOUSE,WIND GEN we have BIG TIME thunder/lightning storms here

What's the name of your insurance company? :D:D

Just bustin ur balls... sing a little song, dance a little dance...

Got to have faith and a little guts to just go for it, We have always thought that is the reason that technology JUST STANDS STILL no one takes the step in the NEW DIRECTION. We like our system it took a little to get adjusted to it but dont think much about it anymore. Cant have the BIG Plasma TV (they eat power) compared to LED, LCD TV's but dont watch that much TV enough to really notice that big a difference. Faith Hill aint going to be on Sunday Night Football this year anyway!!! so dont need the ULTRA SHARP to see EVERYTHING in that SHORT DRESS the wife gets mad when I drool on the TV screen before the game :D

WHAT! How do you know this? I love Faith Hill, way better than H jr.

Just ruined my evening...

I talk to Faith and Tim on a regular basis and she said she's not going to do it anymore gave no reason.

In reality I heard that on my Sirius radio :-laf

Got a call from Son he said that the batteries came to full charge and system kicked over and was putting power back to the local grid and he still had lights on and TV going and the meter was running backwards

IT WORKS!!!!! Oo.
