My 2001 3500 has developed some wind noise at the doors. It was air tight before. Any idea's? Other than that the truck is perfect at 13,000 miles. Totally happy with it in every respect.
I was thinking I would maybe put some baby powder on the gasket and then maybe take it to the car wash for the leak test... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... . anyone have a better idea. . Kevin
Seal the air outlets at the bottom rear of the doors with tape, turn the fan on high in any position but Recric, windows and doors closed and soapy water on the outside will find the leaks.
Do all above then open window before slamming the door and your seals will work for you longer and better lots of psi when widow is closed . LOL Ron in LOUISVILLE KYOo.
I had that noise, especially when the wind was blowing diagonally to the road. I tired goping the seals and stuff. On a road trip to Colorado, it became unbearable, so I stopped by Sears and bought a tool to adjust the door stop. It's a Quad Cab. Anyway, after adjusting it, no more wind noise. As I remember, I moved the stop (bottom) in about 1/8 - 1/4 inch.
If the wind noise seems to be coming from upper portion of the door try this. ROLL THE WINDOW DOWN !!!!!!!!!!!!! Put your knee on the inside of the door at the bottom of the window, put your hands on the top of the door and pull like you have a pair. In the future crack a window before closing the door it helps alot to preserve the seals
My 2000 is quiet, not a sound, even at 118mph ,my dad's 01 is noisey even as slow as 50 mph,He does have a visor,a bug guard, and those corny ventvisors that make the huge ram a pillar even wider, they both made his truck noiser,so if you have any outside accesorys,id yank them off first, before he putthat crap on his otherwise clean truck it was quiet like mine at any speed.
Had a wind leak on the driver door right behind my left ear - I'm 6'4" so I fairly close to the source. Dealer had a bodyshop adjust the door - problem solved. You could see the difference in alignment between the driver and passenger doors - evident at the top of door where it meets the roof.
Krytox oil rubbed on the door seals will make them really supple. I used to use Armor All but Krytox works much better. Caveat, it helps to have a good souce.
Take a dollar bill, open your door and place the dollar bill on the seal at the rear corner. Close the door and pull on the bill - there should be a slight drag. Keep doing that moving the bill forward until you find the area where the bill slips right out. That's where your leak is. Once you find that repost on here where the leak is.
