Pumping RV sewage uphill to a septic tank?

Hey Sam

I came down I-15 this morning on my way to Murrietta. At the Sierra Ave. off-ramp there were (3) big rigs on their sides. The CHP had Cajon Pass closed to all high profile vehicles.

When I came back tonight on my way home, the wind had lightened up some, but the three rigs were still on their sides.

All of them had taken the tractor over with them, which is how they are designed. That is why I asked you about your 5th whl hitch. They are not supposed to separate like yours did. I realize that the pin did not pull out on yours, but the mounting... . that is not good.

I pulled a 5th whl trailer from '78 to '98 and replaced it with a 27' Holiday Rambler tongue trailer, so I could haul my BMW motorcycle. I don't care what brand of tongue trailer you pull, even with a Hensley or Pull Rite Hitch, when the wind is strong enough to blow an 18 wheeler over, IT WILL BLOW OVER any pickup/trailer combination, including a 5th wheel. The wind IS a force to be reckoned with!

Merry Christmas

Gaylord

Sierra Ave? Pretty close, I was crossing over Cherry Ave when I went tits up. I don't know why you wouldn't want the hitch to pull apart, if it doesn't, truck and trailer go over, who wants that. While I am not sure if it is designed to pull apart(my guess it is, the pins that sheared aren't that big) I'm glad it did.

That's kinda scarry.

Is there any particular places I should worry about down that way in May when I head to the Grand Canyon with my TT?

So, what do they consider a high profile vehicle?

Definition: any vehicle with a high center of gravity, esp. SUVs, vans, and pickup trucks

Example: High-profile vehicles are susceptible to rollovers.

Bob, anyone can look up the definition. The question was what to THEY consider high profile in these conditions. With the info you cut pasted, no one driving a pickup should drive in these areas when windy.

Thats about what they are after... vans, pick ups, trailers of any kind, etc.

:-laf:-laf I thought that would be simple enough to understand

"The CHP had Cajon Pass closed to all high profile vehicles. " So let me get this straight. The CHP wouldn't let ANY suvs, pickups or vans by?? Are you kidding me? They wouldn't let a 2wd 3/4 ton Suburban use the road? That's an SUV. You're killing me!

I just heard on the radio this morning that Casper, WY had 58 mph average wind gusts through January... . per day!! We had 59 mph yesterday, 69 mph on Saturday, and a high of 89 for Jan. so far. I can't imagine what some of the mountain tops got!

Laramie wan't much better, I was on my way home from Centennial, WY, (30 miles E of Laramie) and on the S. side of Laramie on Hwy 287, there was one semi on it's side and just a few miles South was a late model dodge dually with 5th wheel, both on their sides. One of those ATV/snowmobile hauling RV's. When I got home to Red Feather/Livermore, CO, I check my wind gauge and it recorded 80mph gusts. Makes my house shake! Sheesh!
