Anyone know how waterproof are the switches for the power windows. They are very exposed to the elements when you open the door in a driving rain storm. I try to keep them dry, but water always seems to puddle up on those switches.
I had some snow fall in to my truck the other day when I rolled down the window(Yeah I know stupid me) but most if it landed on the armrest and switches. I tryed to get most of it out but still some was left and when it melted there was a little puddle in the switches. I used a paper towel to get it dry but was wondering the same thing is it safe to have them colect water like that?
Mine have been very wet several times due to rain or snow getting in them. No harm yet, but I don't know what effect if any it will have on the long term durability.
I don't think a little water on those switches is going to cause any problem, as long as they get a chance to dry out and it doesn't happen on a daily basis. Most automotive switches are sealed and lubed to the point that unless they're submersed, it's unlikely for the internal contacts to get corroded. Now, if it was salt water, that might speed things up a little...
