I used a 1 inch hole saw to make three holes in the inner door pannel to allow me to R&R the window motor. This saves me ten steps according to the Dodge FSM
I cleaned out all the pieces of plastic gear and old lube by removal of the gear case from the motor. The worm gear was full of plastic bits.
My motor would operate but the window would not move. Make sure the glass is FREE to travel up/down the track. If it is binding, the new plastic gear will suffer destruction.
There is a dust shield held onto the gear case with one small screw. Please note that the small "O" ring is placed over/onto the gear case shaft.
My truck had a single rivet (along with the three screws) located at the base of the motor. I drilled the rivetmout with a 1/4" bit and sustituted a 1/4" stove bolt in place of rivet.
