2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Window outer-belt molding

Where can I get that window sill weather strip that's on the outside of my drivers door window for a good price? It's the piece that runs along the bottom of the window, to the side mirror. The rubber weather strip's "metal backing" is rusting out and ruining my paint! Just got a quote from the local dealer- $51. 80 a piece! Can somebody point me to a cheaper source?

Sorry, no. I don't know of a less expensive source. I simply bit the bullet and bought one from the ro^H^H, er, dealer. I may buy another one for the driver's side in a few months, as it no longer wipes the window.

My experience with door and window seals is that OEM is best. The cheaper aftermarket ones just don't fit as well or last long. Lucky it isn't a Honda, they want $170 for the comparable part.

I don't know what you consider cheap but MOPAR for less or another outfit I can't remember the name of will beat that price on OEM. Hell, even my dealer will beat that by about 10 bucks per side. The new ones seemed to be sealed better at the ends.

Mopar for less may be less money but parts like this should NOT be rusting on 7 year old vehicles that cost 25-35K new and receive even reasonable care.



I had to replace mine at 60K and 2 1/2 years old on my 96 because they were bubbling up the black paint because the ends were poorly sealed allowing water / moisture to surface rust the untreated metal center core support.



Of course they were not covered under warranty even though they were rusting because that's "body panels covered by rust through, not trim pieces!



I paid about the same price. Started doing an informal count when I walked through parking lots at stores or wherever. On 94, 95, and 96 trucks, the failure rate was 50% in the Houston area for the month or two that I checked. It seems to be a very common problem. Saw them on alot of trade in trucks on the dealer lots as well when looking at the newer Quad cabs back then as well.



When I removed the mirror even the end protected from the "houston" weather and sun were doing the same thing.



Just another example of poor workmanship / parts quality on our trucks.



How many throttle cables, fuel sending units / modules, cracked hinges on the center console, poor paint jobs, oil pressure sending units, poor radio reception, over active water temperature guages, and KDP's do we have to put up with?????

I bought some from the dealer last summer. I do not remember the exact price, but it they were under $40 each.

No they shouldn't

I agree they should not be rusting. But better than a rusted out oil pan on a ford.



I have replaced mine twice since new. If I added up all of the money I have put in this truck for things I shouldn't have had to buy it would be a one big number.

I painted the ends of mine with POR15 when brand new and watch it all the time.
