2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission window weatherstripping

Does anyone know where to get replacement drivers side and passenger side window weatherstripping? Both lower seals (where your arm would rest on)are metal based with a rubber cover. The rust has won the battle. 1996 2500 4x4 standard cab. I also am trying to locate a drivers side door hinge. The lower hinge has a lot of up and down play. I tried JC Whitney's for both but no luck.

I replaced my weatherstip last year - the only place at that time was the dealer.



If you find another place let me know - I need to do the drivers side soon - it wasn't rusting as fast as the other side.

How much did it cost? Any problems changing it? I just started my search but want to get it done by winter, which is probably in July here in VT

I seem to recall paying about $50/side for the weatherstrip (which IMHO is pretty expensive to replace a simple, defective, factory part).



However, changing them out was easy - just remove the outside mirrors, roll down the windows and the weatherstrip just clicks onto the channel.



To fix the lower hinge you may want to try a pin & bushing kit. They're usually available from most auto supply shops - even try the 'Help' brand section that has odd fasteners & commonly broken stuff.

Finally purchased and installed the new window fuzzy's. 3 minutes each side. Did not need to remove mirror. Just pulled weatherstripping up at door lock and out then reversed the installation.

Replaced drivers side door hinge. dealer says 2nd gen need to replace hinge not pins. I had to partially remove parking brake assembly, lower wiring harness assembly (2 screws) and finally got to the hidden bolt in the cowl area. 4 hrs later and door works perfect. Painted hinge BEFORE I installed it. $108. 00 for window parts and hinge assembly plus paint . Now onto the shocks.

Rusty window rubber channels- where to buy replacements.

The window channel rubbers were starting to bubble with rust at the back ends, so I decided to replace them. The dealer wants $75 each for the rubbers. I got mine from the JC Whitney catalogue for $75 for all four. (Inside and outside for each side) Perhaps one of you may know a better source for these. I painted the ends of the new metal inserts with black rustproof paint to lengthen the life of the replacements. They are bare cut mild steel. Only the outside rubbers have the steel insert, so replacing the inner rubbers is probably not necessary. Replacing the rubbers is very easy, but I loosened the mirror mount to fit the outers, and popped open the inner door panel at the top to fit the inners. Here's a photo of what was revealed when I pulled back the rubber:

$65, free shipping (same as $55 and $10 shipping when I bought mine); replaces all of the window seals: top, side, bottom. Their product is a little different in that it does not precisely match the OEM parts, but I have no complaints about the fit or finish of their products. Their price was reasonable the last time I replaced the seals. I think I replaced both the 'wipers' at the bottom as well as the 'felts' into which the windows close.

You may have to search their web site a few times to be sure you are getting exactly what you want (yes, it can be hard to program database searches to work correctly). And I'll bet you'll get a warm reception if you call them to be certain of what you need to order. I'd even be willing to go so far as to suggest that Geno's carry their products.

Almost two years the parts have been in and I still have no complaints. They even freeze the windows the same way the OEM parts did.

I have bought my door weatherstrips from my Dodge dealer and was thinking they were around that $35/side. I see that LMC Truck Parts: Chevy Chevrolet Blazer S10 GMC Jimmy S15 Ford Bronco Ranger Pickup Pick Up Accessories/Catalogs carries them for $30/side, but do not know the quality. I have also replaced drivers door hinges on two of my Dodge trucks. The hinges are not cheap, but figured they would last another 150,000 miles.
