Transmission Question on 92 Lincoln

My computer has Windows XP Home with SP2. I am having some problems with Earthlink Total Access 2005 Task Panel freezing for about 5 minutes after connection. The suggested fix was to disable the programs listed in the startup tab of the system configuration utility. If I do this, will those programs still be in startup after I reboot?

Thanks in advance.

Bruce,

Are you running Divix? Normally Divix will cause this problem with SP2. If you have it installed, try removing it. Norton is also known to cause conflicts.

You can also go here: www.nirsoft.mirrorz.com, download ShellEx View, under Freeware System Utilities. This program will allow you to manually turn on and off your shell extensions to find the culprit. Find it and can it.

As far as I can tell, the programs will not restart on reboot unless you go back and re-check their boxes in the sys config. utility.

When you turn programs off in msconfig/ startup tab they will not startup on a reboot. But you can start them from your programs listing if you need them.

They will be listed in the startup tab if you want to restart them in auto mode.
