Hello All... .

I haven't had time to do a search for Wiper Motor Transmission postings, but my wipers stopped and don't seem to be attached to the motor any longer. I vaguely remember TDR Member "Skrimpy" posting about a plastic piece that breaks on our wiper transmission creating this condition.

Can anyone shed any further light on this issue before I break out the amnual and get into this???

TIA ..... KEENO :D

Yes this just happened to me on the crewcab yesterday. If you take a peek under the cowl panel at the wiper linkage you will see the linkage no longer attached to the wiper motor arm. I don't know the name of the plastic jam nut or whatever its called, but from what I understand they are available from Dodge, I too would like to know as well. In the past on my old 78, I just used bailing wire. Worked ok. But this time I want to do it right.

Edit: wiper linkage bushing NAPA part number 665-1537. You need four total. Two per package.

I installed new bushings in all my wiper arms. I sourced them from NAPA. You'll need four total. Two per box. They become hard over time and when combined with the wear they will simply allow slop to the point that arm falls off the transmission. The arm connected directly to the transmission crank will have the most abundent wear as it has to drive all the other links.

There are a few screws under the bottom edge of the windshield weather strip. . Push it up a tad to expose the head of the screw.

This is good advise Keeno. Shortly after my bailing wire fix on my 78 W150, I had another bushing fail, so I had to remove the cowl panel again and good ole boy engineer it once again .

Scott, were these in the 'HELP' or whatever it is called section at Napa?

Wiper linkage bushings

I just replaced these on mine as well. During a heavy downpour as I was passing the Chrysler dealership mine decided to fall off. I turned around and went in, only to be told I had to buy the linkage connecting arm to get the bushings, and it would be the next day before I could get it, and had to prepay it! That really griped my rear end to say the least. I didn't think he was right and went home to check P/N, when I called them back with a P/N they said they had 19 of them in stock and they were $3. 20 each. I had to have a little chat with the part dept. manager after that one. Then I went to Napa and bought the bushings, 2 in a package for $2. 50. And they were in the "help" section bgilbert.

Thanks. I didn't know the answer cuz I never go to the NAPA store. They come to me.

And I think there are four bushings???? I don't recall now.

Thanks Again Boyz... .

I'll stop by the NAPA store and pick up some of the bushings. So far, all i've done is put some Rain X on the windsheild in case I get caught in the rain. I'll get her fixed tomorrow.

Thanks for the help...
