Windshield Gauge Pod Question...

Posted this on another forum and didn't get much reply...

I got the windshield gauge pod and Isspro white face gauges from Genos. I noticed that two of the gauges have within their wiring, small plastic boxes inline, that I assume hold circuitry. For those that have installed these gauges in the windshield pod, were you able to secure these boxes in the A-Pillar or did you add wire and secure them under the dash?

I'm just laying everything out now and haven't yet started taking apart my cab to run the wiring and such

The two gages that have the boxes are the pyro and transmission temp, right? I installed my gages in the cubby hole but mounted the boxes near the emergency brake. The wiring was plenty long enough to reach all the way to the cubby hole so it should be long enough to reach up into the pillar. The only wires that were short were the wires to the transmission temp sensor. I haven't determined a good place to install that yet but when I do, I will have to cut and splice those two wires. I mounted the two boxes to the aluminum frame under the dash with 2 sided tape. So far they have stayed put and are out of the way.

When I saw windshield I thought dash, the wires were pretty long though, I rolled the extra up. I am sure someone here has done this and could tell you whether you can extend those wires if they are to short to get you under the dash. I was under the impression they sent longer wires for that type of install.

I have the triple windshield pod and the new Isspros. The wires were not long enough and I had to mount the boxes near the emergency brake and splice wires to make an extension to reach all the way to the pod. I included the small length of wire that comes out of the gauge in my calculation of how long to make the extension which was a mistake. If you are planning on tucking the wires into the headliner without removing it you won't be able to tuck the connectors up into the headliner and therefore you will need the extension to be long enough to run along the headliner and then down into the pod itself where it will connect with the gauges. My point is to make sure you make the extensions long enough the first time so you don't have to redo them like I did.

Thanks MMead. Isspro said no big deal about adding wire. I'm sure I added more than enough, and any extra will be bundled and secured under the dash. I'm adding to the wiring 1st, before everything gets installed.
