2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Windshield Wiper Arm Latch

Do our trucks have any kind of latch to hold the wiper blades off the windshield? My service manual talks about a latch but I can't get it to work on mine. Maybe the manual is referring to the 1500.

Tight latch

I had to use a flatbladed screwdriver to get mine to latch.



Lift wiper about an inch or so and use screwdriver to move tab.

These wipers wont stand off from the windshield like a lot of others do. The latch is for removing the arms from the truck.

The latch is for removing the wiper arm but is does also hold the wipers off the windsheild. Just be sure not to open the hood with the arms up (you'll only do it once).

Thanks for the replies everyone. I'm glad to hear that there is a way to hold the wiper off the window, makes cleaning and changing blades easier. Mine must be one of the tight ones. I'll try the screwdriver technique on it tomorow and see if it breaks loose.
