Pulled my motor apart, cleaned it, put it back together, still popping fuses. Could it be the switch on the steering column? Or what?

fb,

Try the following in order below to save some time and $$$.

Disconnect the motor electrically and hook up jumper wire from battery with a inline fuse the same size as it is blowing. If it blows the motor is shorted internally.

If it passes that test, then check wiring in the steering wheel column for chaffing, broken wire, etc. (where the wiring bends due to s/w angle adjustment)

Also check the wires at the connector in steering column for being loose, backed out of connector, etc.

If all of the above is ok, then it is your switch.

Good luck!!! :D Everyone just loves electrical problems :{ , myself included.

crabman :)

PS please post what the fix is/was.

sounds like a plan. thanks a bunch. I'll b sure to let you know how it goes. quick question... ... how do I remove the steering column plastic crap to get to the wires????

FB,

I think there is a upper and lower shroud that is held on by some screws located on the lower shroud.

Move the seat back as far as it will go, lay down on your back on the floor board under the steering wheel and look up.

Good Luck!!

I did that maybe I missed them?????? Iwas looking through some of my TDR issues and found an article on this I beleive issue 40, it said their is a zip-strap about 6-inches of the fuse panel that holds the wires to a support and the wiper wire tends to chafe their so as soon as it stops raining I'm gonna check that out. wish me luck!!!
