My wipers do their own thing no matter the switch position. sometimes they make a swipe with the switch in the off position. In the interval position in the middle they will make 3 or 4 swipes and then nothing for a few seconds, then go again. Just kind of random. Would this be in the controller or the switch?

It is in the wiper motor. Mine did the same thing if I didn't drive it often, the more I drove the lees it did it. It is not a sign of a impending failure though

At least in my case it was the multi-function switch. Took it apart and cleaned it up and greased with di-electric grease. No problems since.

I have had this problem for 2 years now, the worst effect is the wipers make one pass when the truck is unlocked .. big problem when ice and snow is on the windshield. So far I have done:
- Pulled the wiper motor expecting to find a problem with the park switch -- all looked and tested perfect
- Pulled the multifunction switch, cleaned and re-greased - no affect on the problem
- Found severe corrosion on IPM connector #4 and #4 - fixed the wipers moving on unlock but they still erratic on delay function

I am thinking the problem may be in the module that plugs into the IPM but first need to do the full wire by wire bug out to make sure there isn't another bad connector.
