Canada under federal law, blends down all diesel before it gets to the pump... In the US its up to the local dist. to do this to protect their customers... . so if you take diesel from say the seattle market and drive it to Spokane where its -20 there is a good chance you'll have troubles... .
We run in all our trucks ""Howes Winter Treat Plus Concentrate"" - this is not the same chemical that you buy in the truck stops... . We special order (2) 2 1/2 gal containers in the fall... 8 oz of the above product will protect 120 gal of diesel... . Its also a treatment for keeping the system clean... We fill 8 oz bottles and add one to every 120 tank we pump... we do not over treat and we run it all year long... .
I do intend to use it in the 6. 7L 5500 when it arrives... .
The key here is to know what your local fuel distributor is doing..... Do not ask the clerk at the station, they don't know SH__!!
BTW - Often the fuel distributor is behind the curve here in the US... he is dumping blended fuel into tanks that might be 1/2 full of unblended fuel so your really not protected... .
