This is just a word of caution to BHAF users. I was driving through some big snow drifts and lots of driving snow in NY this weekend and having a great time. :D When I stopped to fill up I also popped the hood to add more washer fluid and to my surpise I had snow caked on the air filter box. I don't know if this would be a problem for the open element but thought I should let you all know.

That's why I pulled my BHAF last week and put my stock airbox back in with the OEM filter with the foam pre filter. One of my favorite past times in winter is drift busting and I'm giddy with anticipation of our first major storm (we have ten inches on the ground but that's not enough to do any drift busting). After a good drift busting session the entire engine bay is packed in snow (I've broken 6 or 7 radiator shrouds in the last 6 years because of the amount of snow that enters - well worth the fun though) so I want all the protection I can get right now. Besides, with the cold temps and the slick conditions I don't worry much about EGT's now, most of the time my box is turned off this time of year because of lack of traction.

Steve,

You need to head west a little bit. Last I heard our snowfall was around 36". I don't know the total snow on the ground but it is well over 10"

This is why I haven't bought a BHAF yet. It seems like it will flow too good keeping intake temps down and prolonging warmup. I will wait unitl after the cooler weather and throw it on in the spring. My $. 02

Well we finally got a big snow here. . . a whopping 2" I have never had a "drift-busting" opportunity before. Sounds like a blast. I need to go someplace where it actually snows and give it a try :)

Caution. . do NOT drift bust in the sierras... way to much water content. . that's where they get the term sierra cement. . you will loose your front end first !!. . Vaughn come on down I'll pile up some for ya . . just bring an extra grill and radiator:p

PS on edit... Steve the traction bars are working great in the deeper snow as I thought they would. . thanks again
