Okay guys i did a search and didn't find what i was looking for, on my 92 i would like to get a winter cold front something similiar to the road tractors, are those available or am i snipe hunting on this one?

I would love to get ahold of one with the big blue "C" on it. . Do dealers carry these?

I think that there was somebody last year that was making something to fit inside of the four corners of the grill, but I think that they quit making them. I have a piece of cardboard that I cut slots in and put it between the radiator and a/c condenser, works good for me.

checked Cabelas site, no go there, they start with 94 and up, so im out of luck. yeah i can do the cardboard but it won't last long around here, to much slop on the roads and the cardboard will turn back to mush...

There has to be one somewhere... going to keep searching if i come up with anything i will post here for other members.

those aren't bad covers at all, checked out the pic on the DTS site, doesn't seem to fit exactly like i pictured. . hmmmm will check out lund also and then decide, thinking both my babies need one or the other...

I have fiddled with the idea of going fanless, but so far the weather has been sporadic, one day 20-30 degrees and then the next 45-50 degrees  we have had a couple of 11 degree mornings but so far haven't had the butt cold weather we usually get, have seen it -40 below here.

WE, you'd be ok fanless in this sporadic weather. That is as long as your not towing. I have my fan removed. Oh and as long as you are not in stop and go traffic for too long, such as last minute Christmas shopping/traffic:mad:, you'll be fine. I was out and about on x-mas eve, what a nightmare, and I was worried watching my temp get to 180*. You also have a bigger cooling system than me too, so you have it even better.

Wyatt,

I don't know how much colder it is down your way, but I haven't needed one yet. I do keep mine plugged in, as it's in the driveway all the time. A couple years back, we had teens and below for more than a week. I put a piece of very thin plexiglas between the radiator and intercooler. It might not have made much difference, but I thought it did... and isn't that what counts? :-laf :-laf

Phil it gets much colder here than in Floyd. . we have seen consistent below freezing temps for the past couple of weeks in the mornings anyways, some days it didn't even get above 32 here.

I thought about slipping a piece of cardboard in that will cover the entire radiator with the exception of cutting out some slots probably 4 adjacent to one another.

I haven't heard anything back from the site i found in alaska. . www.alaskatent.com there stuff seems to be really good and looks good on the vehicles they have pictured, i will let guys know what i hear back if anything...

As for fanless i have thought about it, would help with engine drag, not having to spin that fan around, probably be quicker throttle response also, might even help fuel mileage a bit and Hp numbers, probably only minimum difference but worth it.

Bgilbert to be honest when i take off from the house, the nearest town is 20-25 min away so no stop and go traffic, the only thing we have around here are stop signs, and as for holiday traffic, i avoid that at all cost if i can help it.

It's sad

On the Cabela site they don't have anything before '94 and they call the 94-02 "the old style. " I wonder how those second genners feel? :(

must be that not one person that works for Cabela's has a 89-93 yr. model dodge powered cummins, or they would know that the 94-02 are the new body style. LOL

All the winters I have driven I've never had the cardboard get wet and turn to mush. I usually don't put the cardboard in mine until it gets down to single digits, and there is usually no precipitation at those temps, if there is its not very wet. I've never pulled the fan, I never know when I'll be pulling my trailer, and with the warm snaps like 40's the last few days, I'd be wanting the fan back on. I think the consensus is to put about a 6" hole in the middle to make sure the fan clutch gets good cold air flow so it doesn't try and move a bunch of air. I don't usually do this, and have never seen a fan failure but I understand its a possibilty.

I've never ran a cover on the front that snaps on, a couple trucks I used to drive had those, and I was always fighting rusty snaps. I'd be afraid of breaking my grill pulling off the cover.

Yeah i thought about all of this, don't want to mess up the grille, actually i need to epoxy bond one thing in the grille, yep i have a grille bar cracked but i got the stuff to fix it with so no problem there.

I know where im going to get my cardboard from. . Santa left me and my dad 16' ladder stands for christmas so plenty of cardboard around. . The reason i was asking about the fronts is when im at work and come out in the morning, no way to plug up the truck so its bone cold, wished it wasn't but so far she has fired right off each time, idles rough for a few min. then smoothes on out, could be i need a slight idle adjustment, the truck has never seen temps this cold before compared to where it spend all its life, that was below the tree line in warmer winter weather conditions.

Thanks Miller for you input. .

I'm with Michael, I've never had mushy cardboard. Don't ask me how or why, but it doesn't seem to get wet. I actually used it the other day when it was lightly raining, it was bone dry. I know because I had to get it out of there, the fan almost came on. Nevermind that I was driving 80 and I have a Horton. :-laf
