winter fuel, additives, soot

does anyone know if winter fuel produces more soot than summer blend? How 'bout anti-gel. I use howels? in the winter. I thinking they do produce more soot . Think the owner's manual claims you don't need antigel do to the fuel heater in vicinity of the fuel filter and perhaps for this reason. '08 mega

most of the major name brand additives I see now are labeled for use with ULSD, so they should not cause more soot. i think idling, short trips and light loads are bigger causes of soot (besides the entire EGR system, but that's another thread!)
