duramax problem

do any of our southern california members know if they switch to acclimatized #2 out here. Just curious because my MPG on the last tank did a nose dive. +/- 18 previous tank, +/- 15 this last one. :{

The same

The same refinerys that are supplying the lower elevations are supplying the Sierras, or northern climates. They would have started a winter blend by now. Although not needed. That is a pretty bad milelage drop, I would check things out pretty good before looking at the fuel. The blend or refining should be very light on the #1 side in your area.

I've been thinking...

The last tank when I experienced the mileage drop, the ambient temperatures were low for CA, 50 degrees in the AM. I have a very short drive to work. Do you think the mileage could drop because my short drive did not let the motor reach high enough temperature to run at maximum efficiency? Just a thought.

Maybe

The Cummins does perform better at operating temp and it could be that you just didn't warm up enough. I would take a long drive to check your theory though.
