Medium Duty truck engines

Dodge Nitro to come with a diesel but only overseas!

I gotta be the first to whine. Just filled up this morning (WI 'tween Milwaukee and Madison) and the pump is already changed to Winterized. Yuck, oh well, guess they were bound to do it eventually.

"Already"?

We've been on the winter stuff for close to a month - and "already" seen area temps as low as zero degrees! Froze the fuel on my truck on our last trip to my dad's place over in Payette Idaho because I was still running on the previous tank of summer fuel...

Lotsa folks sorta think it's only the weather right in their immediate area that determines when the change to seasonal fuel is made - not realizing that diesel fuel is pumped into transient rigs that very well might travel half way across the nation - and thru radically DIFFERENT weather/temps before the next fillup. Consequently, the switch from one fuel type to another must be accomplished on a more national basis, than a relatively local one...

Oh I realize that. Heck, I'm just close enough to Canada that I'm sure rigs fill up here and head up to never land. Just gotta whine, 'cuz I'm a local yokel that really doesn't need winter fuel 'til about the end of December, and even then power service or another anit-gel would probably do just fine here (temp rarely gets below -5F).

You know something I don't? Well in my admittedly limited experience I've never seen any. And why would I? You can count on one hand the number of days it gets below freezing here.

Where is "here"? ;)

What if "here" in California happens to be up at Lake Tahoe, Susanville - or a similar high elevation/low temperature area - how do ya suppose they keep THEIR diesels running thru the winter months - maybe drive them over to Colorado for a fill-up - or perhaps order winter fuel shipped in thru the Postal service? :-laf :-laf

Ya know, California is a BIG state - with an equally BIG variation in local climates for different seasons - and the whole state sure isn't out sunbathing down in San Diego thru the winter months! ;) :D
