2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission wiper help

Wondering what recommendations people had for replacement wiper blades. I just bought some triple blade wipers that were guaranteed not to steak or chatter and they're... streaking and chattering, just like my old ones. Anything I can do to keep this from happening (adjustments or something), or is there a blade that might work better. Thanks

I too used to experience what you are eluding to. Before you begin please note this finding.



The blow-by bottle under the hood and directly behind the fan is a bad thing.



The rubber dam just above the firewall at the cowling does not seal engine fumes in a totally efficient manor. Hence; the blow-by bottle pukes oil-film in an aerosol form all over your engine compartment and a portion waffs past your rubber seal between the firewall and hood to deposit it's self on your windshield. It is a terrible mess to deal with on a rainy day. Windshield wipers of any design will not perform well on an oily surface.

Do yourself a favor and remove the puke-bottle to vent the blow-by else where. Then you will have better windshield clarity and wiper performance in wet weather.



There are other benifits from this modification that will lend well to the owner satisfaction of the CTD platform.



Honestly, this single mod will help you a lot!

I have had good luck with some Rain X brand wiper blades. Did a good job, better than the stock ones but did not last as long as I would have hoped.



Think I have some of the bosch micro edge ones on now and they have held up better and do a descent job.

The Bosch Icon blade has work extremely well for me. Seen them at Kragens, Pep Boys, etc.

X2... . The only blade that I've found to hug the windshield, all others would lift off at highway speeds.

I tried ANCO and the same stuff jumped all over the windshield then went to Trico and they work great I also treat my windows with Rain X

Another vote here for the microedge blades. Put them on my truck, the wife's car, and I tried to put them on my Camaro, but apparently the wiper arms are retarded, so they won't fit

Try Sil Blades there made of silicone and have a 5 year warranty I have had mine a year and they wipe like they were new. Go to google and punch in Sil Blade.

His 94 doesn't have the bottle mounted behind the fan. There isn't a bottle at all. The breather is on the side of the motor in the tappet cover.



I just put a set of Trico winter blades on mine. Work good so far.

Ditto that. It's the only brand I've tried here that lasts an entire year in the sun.



I've cured lifting and whistling issues by slightly bending one or two of the nonstructural crossmembers on the blade housing to break up resonant air flow. That trick works better with noise than lifting. I've had neither problem with the Bosch or OEM blades.

Thanks everyone, I've got something to go on. The Silbalde looks interesting but unfortunately its starting to snow around here and I can't wait for something to show up in the mail.



The ones I have are Quadrablade I got from JCWhitney, and I would avoid them whatever you do. They smear going up and chatter going back and they do nothing to remove dirt or grime. The only thing I can do to get any visibility is use a lot of washer fluid, and even then I have to wait for it to evaporate since the blades don't really remove it.



I do recommend JCWhitney's serviced though. I just called them to see about returning these things and they said don't bother returning them, we'll just give you your money back

Drive over to (0mg) Wal-Mart and get the Anco Winter Blades for about six bucks each and see how they work for you. I like them so much, that I use them summer and winter. They have a rubber covering over the metal parts so the snow will not freeze them solid. Tom

When 2 sets of Trico Innovision blades delaminated at the same time (Jeep and Ram) Trico was good enough to send their newer Neoform blades. These are silicone fins that are set in and not glued to an aerodynamic spring beam arbor. So far both sets are satisfasctory and do not skip at up to 90 mph.

Piaa silicone blades are aces. A bit expensive but the best I've ever used.
