My brother has a 2005 Dodge 3500. Intermittently when he starts the truck his wipers will turn on with the switch in the off position. He has to turn the switch on then off to get them to quit. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks John
When the wipers come on are they in the intermittent, slow or fast mode and continue to run until manually switched to "on" then to off?
Among a few possibilities, most likely would be the wiper switch or motor run/park contacts.
Replace the wiper motor and arms, it is all one unit. If the delay and on\off works from the multi-function switch is is the control module in the wiper motor itself that is bad.
I had the same issue on my 2013. Found the multifunction switch on the steering column was the issue. The contracts on the printed circuit board ( the actual switch) had gotten contaminated and were arcing over. It’s low voltage 5 volt signal for the computer so it doesn’t take much to get a stray signal. Can it be cleaned? Maybe. But I broke the switch taking it apart to see how it works. My local auto parts had the switch was under $100 if I recall.
