okay dont know what the wires are but they are now melted with smoke and dont want to drive untill I fix them. they are oem 2 wires black that go to the driverside + terminal they go down right under the battery and go into a black connecting box that they both have there own rubber boot protector on them. from what it looks like the factory wires were both factory wrapped together and looks to be a white tab sticker with letter B on it. this is all I know how to describe it. did not throw any codes will start fine just these wire are getting super hot.

THANKS RIP

Those are the relays for the grid heater located in the intake manifold. If you look just above them behind the black plastic cover for the throttle cable you will see the 2 black wires covered by black boots. Hope this helps.

thanks I just realized that after looking at a manual. thanks assuming this is dealership only or could I get wires that are correct gauge and do this myself

dont know yet I do know that I cut the melted wire off the terminal just above the fusable link (this is what it looks like anyway) and when the heaters kicked on the wires were warm and had hot spots

looks to be just the wires. the ones from the + terminal 2 that run down to rubber covers. they must of had a bad spot I just switched to optimal red top's this last weekend. and 2 days later the wires burnt.

I remember reading somnething about batteries that are shorter and the hold down bolts will hit the harness under the battery tray

good point on the batteries I did notice the one I just bought red tops came with a riser for the bottom to give it the correct height. the ones I had prior were alittle shorter. I have had alot of corrosion and leaky battery issues in the past this may have contributed more to the fowling of the wires. no matter how much I cleaned my batteries they still slowly leaked. this is why I did the red tops. took the battery trays out cleaned them replaced one of the hold down rods due to corrosion sanded down my inner fenders they were all destroyed from the acid. repainted them with rust paint, coated everything with batterycleaner/dialetric grease. I do have a few weeks a year it gets to or just below freezing. not to worried right now it is just a little easier to start the truck with this. good batteries now so I'm good
