Wheel bearing grease

5th Wheel bed damage

I know this question was raised before, but, here go again. .

I have the controller in my hand, the truck is in other town. I going this w/e over there to intall the controller in my 3500 '97:

The truck have the Towing Package on.

Is there a plug to plug-in the controller's wire? ... If so, should it be there a male plug also so I can connect the 3 (white, blue and red) wires from the controller?

If there is not plug, how should I connect those 3 wires fron the controller?

Thank ... .

I am not sure what it is that you are asking. I am not familiar with that controller but if your truck has the tow package is has a plug for the controller. You may need to buy the Dodge plug for the controller end.

Casey, Thank for the reply. I think that is what I need to know: I have to get the plug that fix in the dodge end plug.

Right away, anybody know how many connectors are in that plug? ... just in case the Dodge dealer ask me . As I said, I'm not close to my truck right now. . . . . Ric

You should be able to get the Dodge brake controller pigtail at any reputable trailer hitch dealer/installer. If you look under your dashboard on the driver's door side of the steering column, you should see a plug socket with four (4) conductors. The pigtail will be the opposite gender and have four (4) wires coming off the plug. The Jordan uses only three (3) of these wires, those being B+, B- (ground) and brake output. It does not use (nor need) the brake light wire since it senses brake application from motion of the brake pedal, not from the truck's brake lights.

THIS IS CRITICALLY IMPORTANT!! You CANNOT wire the brake controller to the pigtail by matching wire colors. Each wire should be labeled for function on both the pigtail and the brake controller. Wires MUST be matched by FUNCTION, NOT by COLOR.

Rusty, thank. I should'nt have problem to find the plug. Now I know what to look for and how is connected.

It is easy to ask the question now than travel to the place where the truck is and find out that I don't have the right plug or the right truck. . . . . . . . Ric

Well,

I spend 2 to 3 hours with my head under the dashboard, without finding the brake plug. I took the panel off ( by the steering wheel) and unwrap any pile of wire. Found 2 plugs but it was'nt the right one.

I now I have the towing package in my truck because I found the loose plug/package with the instruction in my spare parts box.

The only thing that could happen is that when B&D install my TorqLoc or the Dodge Dealer install my Horton Fan they cup the plug and use the wire for their need.

So, I have to go to plan "B"; wire the jordan controller direct.

Any suggestion?

Ric

If you have the tow package the plug IS there. It was hard to find on my 97 as well. It was attached to metal mounting tab near the firewall where the main wiring goes through. It was at that top of that mess of wires. It is about 1/2 inch thick and 1 1/2 inch wide. I think my connector in the 97 was white and I had to look three times before I found it.

Casey,

Ok. I would look again this weekend . Like I said, I think I went thru every cornet. The other part of the plug that I have now in my hand is white with 4 connectors (female) is like you say 1/2 x 1 1/2 inch (aprox. )

Thank for your responded, Casey. . . . . Ric
