As I have been contemplating installing an exhaust brake and other accessories on my 2005 CTD with G56, I have been wishing for a shifter knob with at least one on/off button on top. Unfortunately the e-knob switch sold by genos only fits the NV series shifters, as they have a hollow shifter shaft where the wire runs. Since then, I have come across this shift knob-- Amazon.com: Pilot Motorsports PM-172 Manual Shift Knob with 4 Channel Wireless Remote: Automotive

Aesthetics aside, accessory control from the top of the shift knob really suits my driving style, but I am wondering if there are any drawbacks to wireless remote switches. It seems that somewhere I read that anyone with a remote garage door opener might power up or down the controlled accessories or that cell phones might interfere with their operations. That does not sound good or safe to me. Does anyone use any wireless remote switches in their trucks and do you like them or have any problems with them?? Also, can any RF engineers chime in on the likelihood of interference with the operation of these switches. TIA!!

Quick update on wireless switches; I found out that genos sold a 3way wireless switch module that mounted to the steering wheel, made by Baker Auto Accessories (who also make the bright boxes and fozilla kits that many of us love) several years ago. It was called the SWAC, short for Steering Wheel Accessory Commander. I am trying to get more info from them on their availability, but am also wondering if anyone out there is still using one and how they like it??

Well personally I was kind of excited when I found out about the possibility of using wireless remote switches to control some add-on accesories, particularly when they take the form of being mounted on the stick, but I guess none of you guys are using them. Maybe that's why Baker (now Innova Design and Distributing) stopped making the SWAC--I guess Genos did't sell even one of them:-laf Seriously though can anyone even venture an opinion as to whether somebodys cell phone, or garage door opener might inadvertently engage my air horns or 300 watts of back up lights at 3am when I visiting my girlfriends house, cuz that might be really bad since I am married. :-laf
