Looking for trailer

Hooked a big'un today

I moved the factory wiring connector to the bed of the truck for use with the gooseneck and 5th wheel. I would like a permanent one back in the original location. What is the best way to wire 2 plugs. I hate the idea of the scotch-lok connectors, they are nothing but trouble for me.
Thanks,
Wes

May not be what you had in mind, but what I did:
I made up an extension with a male 7pin on one end and a female 7pin on the other.
Came up behind the left taillight and mounted the female throug there too the bed. It is near the rear of bed but seems to work there OK. I encased the wires in a 3/4" fuel hose and run it all down to the original
one on the hitch. Put the Female plug on and plugged it in to the factory plug. To use the original, just unplug the extension at the hitch.
After I fooled with this most of a day ,I saw some already made up in different lenghts at Camper World. FWIW

I'm with you on the Scotch-Lok or similar pinch the wire type connectors so whenever possible I solder the wires together then cover with heat shrink tubing or that liquid electrians tape.

What about those pre-made wiring hook-ups that plug into your original wire harness?

You guys are making it hard. I left the original alone and put one in the bed and spliced it in for a 5er and my gooseneck. Both trailers have the same plug. That makes it simple. The one by the frame hitch still works for the 4wheeler trailer.

What I need to know is the best way to splice into the wires.

What hitch do you use ?? Does Reece have a hitch for Goosenecks and 5th wheel??
If so what is the model number and of course the important part is how much did it cost?? I want to be able to tow goose or 5er. I am leaning hard towards the turnball system. It will run me about $925.
Sorry Wes I know this don't help you with your wiring problem.
What I planned on doing is soldering into the wires going to the trailer wiring harness and then covering the splices with the liquid tape from wall mart. I'm with you on the scoth block thing. They are a PITA (Pain In The A ). Yes you got it right.
See Ya

On my truck it cost 20. 00 to wire up. Took it to a hitch store. I have the Reese 20k fifth wheel hitch. Goose neck is Draw tite 30K(I think)I have the permanent rails in the truck and just put the appropriate hitch in and clip the cotter keys and I'm done. I can go from one to the other in less than 5 minutes. I like it and it works for me.

You have seen my 5th wheel hitch. I also have a plate with a gooseneck ball on it. Attaches same. You do have the rails that stay in the bed, but you can get the Reese hitch for around $400. I don't remember what that gooseneck plate goes for.
Hope this helps.
Wes
