Wiring 5th Wheel plug

Is there an adapter that allows adding a 3rd plug for wiring 5th wheel RV plug in pickup box? Have 04 with trailer tow package but no 5th wheel plug in bed.

You can buy a harness from Mopar that utilizes the flat four conductor connector under the bumper but there is some splicing required.

What I do is mount a Berg junction box at the bottom of the frame

Run the chassis harness through it and connect the appropriate wires to the terminal stud connectors in it and connect the additional plug harness to the terminal studs.

I also have a '04 and I did the same thing you want to do. I removed the factory RV plug from the rear bumper and the protective cover around the wires to expose all the different wires. I used a test light to determine which color of wire went where. I purchased a new RV plug from NAPA and some wire. Then I stripped the insulation from the factory wires and soldered ( sp) the wires that goes to the new plug and wrapped each one with tape. After I got all the wires soldered and taped. I put a single wrapping of tape around all to make a single harness to go to the new plug in the bed. I mounted mine in the left rear corner of the bed. I run the new harness up through the left rear corner by the tail light and into the bed of the truck. Then connected the new harness to the plug I got from Napa and all works great. I made a bracket for the new plug from a piece of aluminum I had in the shop. I never did know which wire in the factory harness was ground so I connected a white on the ground lug of the new plug and took a quarter inch bolt and connected it to the frame of the pickup. I hope this helps.

Also has anyone with the '04s removed any of the shims between the axle and spring. I would like to drop the truck about the thickness of one of the shims.

Mine came factory with a plug for my 5th wheel. It's right back there next to the tag. My 5th wheel's cord is perfect length to drape over the tailgate and plug in. The tailgate part of the bedliner keeps the cord off of the paint. My '01, 98, and 94 had the plug down on the receiver so they had to be drilled and spliced. Just my three cents.

I was going to install a plug in the bed but was hesitant to splice wires. Then I discovered that with my Handy louvered tailgate held open at 45 degrees there is just enough room for me to drop the trailer plug down between the bottom of the tailgate and the back of the bed. Once plugged in I leave a slight loop to keep the strain off the wire and close the tailgate. There is just enough pressure on the cable so that it does not move. I could not have designed it better. If you have the Handy tailgate you might want to try it. Just drop the plug sideways between the lower louver and the bed and as you close the tailgate slightly it drop down through. However I don't think this will work for the stock tailgate. My two cent Canadian today.
