Forgive the length, I will try to stick with what I think is relavent information.
BLUF: Is there a way to tell if my main wiring harness is correct for the truck? Is there an intermediate connection between the headlight bulb connector and the/a main wire leading to the main harness? Is the main wiring for a 2006 the same as other years?
2006 Mega Cab 2WD; 68,000 miles. I bought this truck knowing it was involved in a front-end collision, what I did not know was what a potentially lousy job the body guy who put it back together did. I am pretty sure the front drivers door also sustained damage and was replaced. I bought the truck in the summer heat, I did not bother to check all windows worked properly. My drivers side works the drivers side, the front passenger works the rear right, the rear left works the front passenger, the rear right works the rear left. I removed the drivers door panel (but did not note the part number on the door wiring harness), everything looked as it should. Everything else on the door switch works as it should - power doors and power mirrors. I believe my issue is the door wiring harness is not correct for the year. Until I called my local Dodge parts counter and consulted with a very reputable recycler, I did not realize in 2006 I could have potentially had three different part numbers for the harness. The Dodge parts counter, based off my VIN, stated the correct part number for my harness is 56051691AC. This issue and the issues I am having with my headlights has me wondering if all/most of my wiring is from another year truck.
When I was replacing my headlights, I noted the connectors for my headlight bulbs had some damage and I believe were for a 9007 vice H13 bulb (for 2005 the correct bulb is a 9007, for 2006 there was a switch to H13). I verified the connectors were for a 9007 bulb, but what I don't know is if there is an intermediate connection so I could possibly get the correct wiring and plug it in, or is it all part of the main wiring. If there is no/little difference in the main wiring, and if I confirm my door wiring harness is incorrect, I would expect changing the wiring harness to take care of my power window issue.
Thank you for any/all insight.
