I have a friend who says that there is a wiring harness(kit) that will make his Jacobs Exhaust brake turn off when he gets on the pedal and engages when he has the brake turned and lets-off the pedal. Anyone know of this and where I can get it?

The standard Jacob's kit for the 24V comes with a harness that connects to the ECM. The ECM turns the exhaust brake on approximately 1-1/2 seconds after the "Go" pedal is released (the delay allows for shifting without engagement). It is independant of braking.

It should have come with the Brake, if not I'll see if I can find the numbers for it

The entire ebrake kit part number is 3800780

of course this installation manual says its for a 98 1/2, 99 and 2000, but it worked on my 2001. 5.

mine came with the brake, a vacuum solenoid, wiring harness and switch.

You will need to hook up to pin 20 (2001, I assume its the same on yours) on the ecm.

The pin 20 will give you a 1. 5 to 2 second delay before the brake comes on, allowing shifting.

Sometimes under heavy back pressure the brake will disengage slowly.

I paid approx. $550 from my Stealer. Sorry, but they are no longer in business (too much of a Stealer). Any dodge dealer should be able to do about the same price. The install is easy and should only take 2hrs. Just have fun trying to restart the truck when finished :mad: :mad: :-{}
