The wires connecting the EGT probe wire to the little white connector came out and I need to re-attach, re-solder. Does anyone know the correct order of wires - I believe there are 4 and 4 pins.

Here is a pic of where the white connector goes (arrow #2), and tonight I will post a pic of the connector and wires as well.

Thanks,
George

Here is a close up. I can figure where the blue wire goes, since it is missing the connector, but what about the rest - what is the order? Thanks.

Follow up question. The probe has two wires, red and yellow. which is positive and which is negative? Does it matter?

My initial thought this sounds like a Type K Thermocouple, red being (-) negative.

No clue if it matters on a Smarty.., but for my industry and the controllers we use it matters, red is typical negative (-) for our thermocouple wiring. Mostly since we read ambient to +120deg C with the same probe. The reading will go negative below 0 C, 32F, that's just the way they have the code written for the unit, it could easily just stop at 0 if the programmer wanted it too, for an EGT I can see that kind of range is useless so maybe they ignore the sign with their controller.

Thanks. I have looked at pictures on line and on the connector I have, the "+" is on the right hand side (wire facing away from me), and pics show both red on right as well as on the left! So I don't know if the design changed or what. I will just have to try it out, or hope someone who has one can take a peek at it for me.

Bueller? Bueller? Specifically on my orig question. Can someone please take a peek at their Smarty (touch or MM3) and see if you can get the wire order to the connector from the EGT probe? I did say please.... ;-)

Already chatted (via PM) with Brian. I think I may end up just trying all the combinations. There are only a finite number, after all! ;-)

Have you put a support ticket in on their website?

it's my understanding Brian no longer works at Smarty Resource.

Will they let you send it in for repair? Is there a colored sticker still on the EGT 2 screw probe connector device? I recall the sticker matched the wire color for the probe.
