After losing my 7 round to 4 flat plug the other night, I decided it was finally time to wire in a 4 flat like all the new rams have, but I need to know which wires are which.

Does anyone have a diagram showing which wire is which going into the plug that sits on the truck next to the trailer hitch?. Note: i'm looking for which wire is which in the pigtail that plugs into the receptacle that sits on the truck, not which wire is which for the terminals inside the receptacle.

thanks!

4 flat

If you are going to make a pigtail with a male plug, #1 is ground, #5 is left turn, #6 is right turn and #3 is taillights.

Ewwwkayyy You mean Which wire is which on the FACTORY 7 pin round?

If So Look at my diag again under the 7Pin# column and follow it across to it's 4 flat counterpart.

:Edit : I just read it again and am wicked

I need to to know which wire is which in the wire-loom that comes down out of the truck and plugs into the FACTORY 7-round. Inside the loom there are several wires, one that is black with an orange stripe, green with an orange stripe, etc.

Hooow about/

The flat four is- brown=tail lights, white=ground, yellow=left turn, green=right turn. On the truck brown will go to black wire with yellow stripe, white will go to ground, yellow will go to dark green wire with red stripe, green will go to brown wire with red stripe. bg

I never understoof why DC uses these odd colors with tracers. I ran into the same thing with my 03. What's wrong with the standard?

AKAMAC-

I'm doing this b/c the other night I lost the connector so I had to haul home w/out trailer lights. If I had the four flat on the truck, I wouldn't need the connector that could get lost again.

Your local auto parts store isn't always close by or open.

Isn't there already a...

... Flat 4 connector hidden under the bumper? I seem to remember that being a really good idea...

... but maybe my memory is failing and I need to run out and look under the truck...
