I am installing a new flatbed I just built on my 2004 quad cab. My question is how to tye in to the lighting system. I was going to cut the plug off that went toi each tail light. But when I test the wires to figure out what they do it isn't very clear. Two show continuity to ground. When try to find say the turn signal I think I was getting 12 volts all the time on one pin and 9 volts on the other two. Any ideas any one, I need to get these wired properly. I am going to ty into my fourway trailer plug for now so I have brke and tail but I am sure this will cause the lamp out light on my dash to be on at all times.

Lyle, When I install a flatbed ,I cut the wires to both lights and write down the color code for each location, You do know that the signal and brake lights are separate on the new dodges. They are inconsistent with their colors. The brake light wires are differant left and right. Each year has differant color code. Just use a bug light and if you know the wires on your flatbed you should be O. K.

I did this on our 04 3500 dually, this is very straight forward... .

On the left side you have a left turn bulb, left brake light, tail light, and back up light... . and ground..... you DO NOT have a combined turn/brake light... . they are two separate lights... the right side is the same.....

We cut the connector off, used non-insulated butt connectors and water proof shrink tube with glue in the tube... ... made a great connection... .
