Short Depth 7pin Wire Block

A few fun pull wars towing the 5th on vacation...

I am going to put a 6-pole trailer plug in the bed - our livestock trailer and flatbed both have shorter leads so I can't reach the factory plug by the reciever hitch. I do not want to cut into wires - any helpful advice as to how to hook into the brake control lead off the factory plug and retain use of both? I am using a specific harness to plug into the factory harness underneath the taillights.

Also, the guy at the RV/trailer dealership told me that since mine had the Tow Package from factory, there would be a hookup for a brake controller in the glove box?? Any experience with this? Thanks in advance for the feedback

:)

Mine had the pigtail in the glovebox with the adapter that lets you plug a 4-wire trailer in when I got the truck. It plugs in to the truck under the dash on the driver's side above a white wire junction box.

On my truck I got a pigtail that plugged in to the factory plug at the reciever and was about 4 or 5 feet long. I ran this up to the side of the truck where I was going to mount my 6 pole connector and just wired the 6-pole in to it. That way nothing is cut or spliced. If I need the factory plug I can just unplug my pigtail and use the factory plug for a 4-wire trailer or a trailer that has the same end as the factory uses.

Hope this helps,

Mike

I made a extension cord useing the 7 wire cord . Put a

plug on one end and plug in to OEM trailer hitch and

run the wire up behind the left taillight . Theres a hole

there to run the wire through With the right size grommet.

Then just put on the female plug for your trailer to

plug into.

If you look under the dash around the steering column

theres a plug that matchs the one in your glove box.

That will wire into your brake controler.

GOOD LUCK

Frank

As above, I made an extension cord and mounted one end in the bed, I ran up through the back stake pocket. The wire is available at some RV places and at commercial truck suppliers. I bought one of the adapters (that plugs into the wiring harness under the steering col) at Camping World, about 10. 00 I believe, I think it is also available at Dodge dealers. bg
