heres my fuel system that i just made for my truck and i need a little help now. Out of the tank its stainless braided 8AN line to an frame mounted fuel filter, then to a carter 15psi pump, and stainless braided line to a 7psi carter pump in the stock location. I have the 15 psi pump wired to come on manually when i start the truck. how can i wire the 15 psi frame mounted pump to come on automatically when the truck starts, instead of me turning it on? some kind of hobbs switch or something i can wire it to in the truck? thanks, Greg

Use an oil pressure switch, that will acomplish what you are wanting.

Knowing that these pumps have a problem with any suction restriction I would have the pump first in line followed by the filter.

Use a relay to fire the pump. Use the stock (lift pump) harness plug for the trigger to activate the relay.

This is exactly what I did to mine just this past weekend. Works perfectly. I'd recommend using sealed electrical plugs on all the connections. If you do this, then you can pretty much build yourself the addl wiring harness on your workbench and then install it in one piece. Easy to do. The plugs make swapping out the pump easier when it does fail.

I'm thinking of using the manifold heater relays. They're not used anymore (we go south in the winter) and are plenty heavy duty.

Looks like next weeks project!
