wiring ?

im trying to put on clear courtesy lights on my running boards. and i want them to come on when i hit my keyless entry or open the door. i want to tap a wire and go to a relay and than to my lights. but im confused on the wires in the over head lights seems like there reversed or somthing. so can i find the wire some were eles . so does anybody know which wire i need to tap?

What throws a lot of guys off with the lighting on these trucks is the fact that everything is done by switching ground. 12V+ is constantly at the lights in the overhead console, and the CTM controls the ground path for turning the lights on. In the overhead console, you can tap onto the 22 gauge yellow wire. Have this wire be the ground path for the coil side of the relay, and everything will work fine with your lights. Be sure to solder all connections, which means don't use any Scotch-Locks or t-tappers!
