Archived Wis Dells, WI truck aint happy

I'm enroute down Rt. 90/94 to 39 to Indy the across to Columbus, Wheeling and ending in Eastern PA. Currently the truck is running, but every now and again is surges 200 rpm or so as if the converter is locking and unlocking at highway speeds. When pulling into the hotel tonite it momentarily died, then picked up again. I did a search and found suggestions of the APPs to ECM. The only codes it threw were P1596 and P1693. I have to press on, but could anyone chime in with a few reliable shops along my route should I need it. Thanks.

Code 1693= code detected in PCM or ECM.

From 96 to 2001 code defintions 1596= Speed Contol Switch always high. (Pretty sure this code was carried over to new code list starting in 2002).

UPDATE Upon leaving the hotel, the truck started acting up immediately so I made a bee line for Don Miller Dodge in Madison, WI. They took me in right away and determined it was a the APPS. They sent a runner to another dealer to "borrow" one, installed it and I was on my way. Can't say enough good about them.

That is good to know about Don Miller. About 30 min from my place. Glad it all worked out well
