Removing Stubborn RV Decals

new to towing

So I'm putzing on the highway and I see this ridgeline hogging the left lane struggling to pass other cars (I would hope, since your not supposed to drive left).

This "truck" had a mini flat bed trailer... . On this trailer, 2 "TWIN SIZED" bed mattresses.

Couldn't even get these little mattresses in the back, had to get a trailer.

What a useless truck. Just like the Aztec for an SUV.

2008 Honda Ridgeline - the Official Honda Ridgeline Web Site The half ton truck that can only load 1/2 what other half tons can. Who are they trying to fool?

This may come as a shock to you but not everyone needs a 1ton truck with an 8' bed. I know I always buy my vehicles with the anticipation of what I may have to haul once every 10 years. (i. e. mattress)

I own several 1 ton duallys and our new 5500 will be here in 2 weeks... . but my daily driver is a 05 Grand Cherokee because its so comfortable, leather, heated seats, all the bells and whistles and so easy to park, but it cost more per mile to drive than my 1 tons because of the HEMI... it gets about 15 MPG around town...

And I tow my trailer for my 4 track with it... so easy to get up to the woods and play... sometimes those dually's are just too big. .

Yeah, but it's funny to see a truck pulling a dinky trailer.

But away from the personal reasons to buy a truck...

Where the heck dose honda get off even calling that "ridgeline" a half ton? It's no more rated to carry anymore then an Dakota, and that's a 1/4 ton truck.

Um... . unless somthing has changed since I was in school "1,550-lb. total payload capacity" is 550lbs more than 1/2 a ton.

US Ton = 2000lbs divided by 2 = 1000lbs 1550-1000=550

1/2 ton does not mean 1000# capacity now a days.

The dakota is rated at 1460# in bed (wee bit less) and 5800# (more)towing capacity with the v8 (comparable to Honda's biggest motor). And has a real truck bed.

The colorado is kinda lower, then both. heh, that's odd.

none the less, the ridgeline is on par with the domestic 1/4 tons, not the 1/2 tons. The Tundra, 1500 hemi and F150 will kill this poor honda in any tests.

Ridgeline folly.

We're the highly satisfied owners of an '05 Honda Pilot, essentially the same drivetrain as the Ridgeline. In our application, this vehicle is extremely well built(are you listening Dodge?) and a joy to drive. Mileage averages 17-19 mpg in town. Zero leaks, squeaks etc. so far. I don't know what Honda was smoking when they came up with the Ridgeline.

My only comment is that a "truck" should have a solid rear axle.

The auto manufacturers need to step it up... you either have rear IFS for a car or you have a IFS on a HD truck, with nothing in between. On re-reading, a fullsize, 2500/3500 with rear IFS would be sweet.

My point is, who cares? None of you are interested in buying one, so Honda isn't marketing them to you. I highly doubt anyone was shopping for an F-450/550 but instead they went with a Ridgeline. The people who buy those were probably in the market for an SUV and went with a Ridgeline instead. You'll have better luck hauling mattresses, lumber or furniture in a Ridgeline than a Durango. I've seen a few locally pulling boats or small campers and they work fine. But trying to compare them to larger trucks is stupid. Guess what any semi has a higher GVW than your wimpy little pickup, now is it fair to compare them considering they're not in the same class, you tell me? "My dad can beat up your mom!!" Who gives a ... . ?

That's not it all dude. you are way over thinking.

The angle I'm coming from is false advertising. It's not a 1/2 ton truck.

your right tho, the people that end up with one were prolly looking for an SUV.

But calling a ridgeline a 1/2 ton is a far cry from what a real half ton is.

LOL :)

Looking at my door sticker, it says 8800 GVW. My truck weighs in at 7400 with a full fuel tank, me, my wife and my Rhott mix.

Lets see... . Humph... . Its rated at a 1400 payload.

Dumb of me, I should have gotten a Dakota.....

I guess I better put everyone on a diet.

The "Ridgeline"

My wife was in the market for a small suv.

I wanted her to drive a new Dodge Cummins 4x4. In April she drove an 07 Ridgeline . She bought it,she loves it. As long as my wife is happy I am happy.

The truck is really neat. If you test drive one you might feel the same way.

It drives perfect. The rear seat rides nice.

I think the in bed trunk sold her. I was skeptical about the carbon fiber bed so I climbed up on the side rail and jumped dead center into the trunk lid trying to break it. 230 lbs did not break it. You should have seen the salesman's look on his face.

It is also made in what we call the USA.

honda?

Im going to get beat to death but here goes. :-{}

. To me a truck is a truck if it has a solid axle front and rear. Leaf springs front and rear all the better. Independant front ends are weak.

Ill stand buy and take my beating now:{

While I tend to agree, the Osh Kosh trucks I have seen with independent suspensions front and rear were kinda cool! I believe one of those axle shafts were bigger than our rear driveshafts!!!

One thing I can attest to is the fact the GM 2500 with a Duramax hanging over the front end doesn't ride nearly as nice as my 2500 with a solid front axle... that whole argument about IFS riding better is a bunch of non-sense.

May not be a truck, but Honda IMHO is right up there with CUMMINS in reliability/performance etc. The Ridgeline should be called a small/mid-size truck, not a half ton. I don't know about other members but i"v had really good luck with the Honda motors over the years,generator/boatmotor,quads,91 Acura car still running strong---never left me stranded in 16 years/starts every time/cheap on fuel. Me and the Mrs are starting to look for bigger boat and there will be another Honda motor on that as well---BF225HP. PS---NO FLAME/WAR INTENDED,they may have made a mistake marketing it as a 1/2 ton but they still make good stuff.

Agreed... Honda is one of the best small engines out there... I think Honda would make a very good light truck.

You shouldn't come on here and say nonsense like that. Everyone on here knows that the Dodge/Cummins is the only vehicle on earth that's worth buying. And everyone should be driving a 1 ton 4x4 pickup everywhere they go. Don't you know that brand loyal lemmings don't like to hear from people that don't walk the straight and narrow. :-laf

p. s my gf's 2004 Acura TL is probably the nicest car I've driven and didn't need aux fuel pumps, filters, regular oil samples, special high priced oil brands, thousands of dollars in fuel addidives..... You know like these "bullet proof" (as some like to claim) Cummins appear to need. And that's not even including the junk on the trucks. Worthless headlights, cheap interior... .....
