One of our short doubles- five axle dump, six axle trailer- pooped out a power divider, so the boss hooked the cable up to his pickup and pulled it 10-12 miles back to the shop. Would have made a good Dodge commercial. The truck can legally gross 148k, weighs a little over 50k empty  Who says that auto trans is weak?

I'm going to test your memory here, remember back in the 70's when Tom T. Hall did a pull test with a Chevy 3/4 ton and a long line of trailers full of logs, wish I remembered the total weight it was through the roof, bet that converter was crying.

Although It wasn't a Dodge, my uncle once pulled a grain truck to his Dairy to unload. It broke down about 40 miles from his place. He had a 1970 3/4 ton ford. It had a 4 spd. but it was not a pull on level ground. The 18 wheeler was grossing 95,000 lbs. He tells the story that the first hill they came to he thought he was not gonna make it. From their on they would go down the hills at speeds up to 90 mph and pray that they didn't run up on anybody. He said that the trucker was litteraly white when they pulled up to his dairy.
