the problem is just my truck i am sure it has a

weak lift pump!! the truck is fine on 5/5 or lower.

fresh fuel filter made big difference but last one only had 2500miles.

surges constant throttle when 2500rpm or up.

the truck also is hard to start if below 1/4~1/8 tank.

I would take it to the dealer to confirm that and get it warrantied but that is a pain in the a$$.

If you already have a PMCR, coupled with a suspected bad/failing lift pump, I'd say just bite the bullet and upgrade the fuel system. DD's pump will replace the stock lift pump, and is enough to support 500+HP. I have a PMCR and an Edge EZ. On power level 7, with the EZ on level 4, I could only suck fuel pressure down to 8psi on a WOT run. No fuel issues here.

I know this is a little off of the subject, but anyone with the pmcr notice it "blackening" the oil? Had my box on for 2 days and tonight I checked the oil and it was black as coal. I have never seen this in a cummins before. I run the 5w40 synthetic from Rotella. Is this to thin? Any help will greatly be appreciated. Thanks. Lee.

Anytime you start adding more fuel and running higher cylinder pressures you will run into this. I have a friend running stage 6 injectors in his ISB. He changes his oil about every 2500 miles cause it gets dirty so fast. My 01 with stage 3 injectors used to get dirty quick also.

Robert,

Are you running the KSB-1-2-03?

The problem with making less HP on the higher settings with injectors or stacking boxes is that the CP3 injection pump cant keep up with the demand of fuel that the box is asking for.

All righttttyyyyy then, help me through this thought process,... is this box only a good investment if a guy is willing to keep throwing alot of dollars at the rest of the engine and trans to get anywhere close to the capability it has? If the answer to that question is yes then let's try this one. What is the box,... tried and true that you can put on and without dumping tons of other upgrades get full use from without killing egts or boost? I'm not thinking competitive pulls or drags here but rather good enhanced power over stock that can fully be used also for towing at a 15k lb capacity. Thoughts pls.

Just get an edge EZ if you are looking for a bit more power, it is conservative enough to be used without any other modifications other than gauges. I think they are on the market as of the 26th. It is ok not to go balls out on your pickup, not everyone needs 500 hp and 1000 pounds of torque. :)
