CCahill,

I used WIX filters for years. the oil, and air filters a lot.

The Wix oil filter is bad news for our trucks according to Dodge/Cummins.

Please read the link to dodgeram.org. Apparently the Wix filters can come apart internally and clog up passages. I was surprised to learn this myself. Ive since moved on to Fleetguards.

I too like Wix and use a variety of them but for my Cummins and my Case 504, nothing but Fleetguard will do.

FWIW, there was an article in the March Popular Mechanics about WIX changing the internal drainback valve from nitrile rubber to silicone. Supposedly to resist heat and oxidation. Don't have a clue to what this might mean to a Cummins diesel but thought I would pass it on.

Excellent price on the BHAF though. Thanks for posting that Colin, I had not thought to look it up through filter1.

Filters

I did some research on filters, and the Wix and AC duraguard were rated the highest in performance and strength, the Wix out ranked the Ac cuz it will withstand higher pressures. I was always a Fram person and still am for my 70 superbee cuz they have a 500psi rating,HP series. But that is the only Fram filter ill use. Fram was rated rock bottom. Fleetguard according to the lab Tests came in like 4 or 5 but still was rated a exellent filter.
