Won't go into "P"

I went to back my truck up into the parking spot at work this morning and when I put the lever to "R", it felt kinda stiff, but it backed up into the spot. When I tried to put it in park, it would not go. After trying a few times, it finally went to the "P" position, but the "P" light won't come on and the truck will not start in "P"... I have to shift to neutral to start the truck. I did a search and didn't see anything specific to this problem. Any ideas what it might be? This is a 48RE.

On older DC auto's I've had the steering can jam against lever linkage. Turn the steering wheel a bit more in one direction and see if it works then.
