I went to pick up our "new" John Deere Tractor the other day and I was very upset at the fact that my cummins could not get above 60 mph with a 3020 john deere on the back of it, is this normal or is something wrong??? i am thinking of adding some pep to the motor, any suggestions?

John Deere 3020 shipping weight between 7117 and 7585 pounds. Guessing a 1500 pound trailer, and 7800 pounds for your truck - you were grossing about 16,500-17,000 pounds. 60 MPH is about right for a stock truck with 3. 55 gears.

MO POWER!

no, no, that's not right (if i've interpreted this right). i know a couple guys grossing 30k at times. Haulin In Dixie (d-diesel) has a 24v 5speed with the 3:54's and a 50foot car hauler. he can go faster on the the straight aways, but uphill, yes, it will slow down. 60mph tops are you you talking about or just the uphill "battles"?

Something isn't right here. Before I did my mods I could pull my 10,000 lb trailer all day at 65 or 70 without breaking a sweat. Note this was in 3rd not OD

I pull my 5th wheel at 65 to 70 mph all day. I'm in 6th gear and only slow to 60 mph at 1800 rpm up hills. My trailer weighs about 9500 lbs loaded. This configuration works fine for me ;) .

This was running about 2500 rpms in 4th and then going to 5th with the hammer down, it just would not run over 60, and it was over one small hill and a long flat highway, on a 27 foot gooseneck with the single wheels, the tractor has a front end loader on it and wheel weights. this was with three people in the cab and the ac on.

In stock trim with my stock auto and fighting any kind of head wind with my 10,000 lb 5er I could not get much over 60 with gearing down. If you truck is stock this may be normal. After I added my EZ there wasn't much that slowed me down

You should have been able to do better. How heavy are the wheel weights? They can be a lot. Did you put calcium or glycol in the JD tires? That also adds weight fast=slower to tow.
