my truck will not rev past the two grand mark on the tack with the brake applied(trying to spool up). it almost feels like the engine just gives up at 2000. there is still lots of pedal but no rpms. the truck also kind of feels like it misses alittle taking off and going down the road. could it be a trans. problem or a vp44 or something else????????

nathan

your truck is de-fueling in first gear, you need need a smarty or a BD-RAD, if it does it through all gears it could be a VP 44, had the same thing to my truck

Tell ya what Nate, I wouldn't do that anymore without any trans wrok. STOCK trucks can break the input shaft by what you are doing. Heck a year back I was on the phone with a guy checking his boost guage in his driveway by "Boost launching" or basicly what you are doing and well it left his driveway on a flatbed . . Bone butt stock with an exhaust and boost guage.

It does sound odd tho. With a stock "Loose" converter you should be able to build boost progressively as the brake comes off and the truck moves. With a stock turbo and injectors and with the comp on 3 , "smoke" 5 it should build quick (Taking in mind that G-Man is right with the defuel for the 1-2 shift) What is your fuel pressure?

Also taking this thread out of the 911 forum and moving to the tech forum.

i know this is hard on a stock trans. since i put the comp on i could start to feel this problem. i do not know what my fuel pressure is, no guage. how do i check the fuel pressure on my truck since i have the fass system on it. it replaced the line going to my pump and the check valve attached to the stock line. is the only way through an actual in cab guage. i have heard about the tourque limiting sensor that is built in to the 01 02 computers on auto, which defuels it right? but my truck will do it extremly bad form the line and through out the gears, most noticeable in level five, but all around the 2000rpm. graphic man, did the bd or smarty fix your problem or was it a vp44? tim, thanks for the advice about the trans, next step billet input shafts and converter, heavy duty clutches, and re-worked valve body, if i ever get this problem solved.

It is the torque management software. Somewhere around 2000 or so is when they started using it. Basically zero wheel speed, you are defueled around the 2000 rpm mark. Designed to protect the transmission.

Yeah dude Nate, Bud , get yourself a fuel pressure guage as that is paramount if not in the bible somewhere. There are tons and pounds of kits out there that you can adapt to your needs. In fact on the earlier Fass's <-- Plural for fass  :-laf Anyhow on the earlier models like mine there is a port on the housing that will allow you to tap in (I think it is the 1/8th standard) Or you can get the materials thru earl's , russel , or any line fitting company and make a tie in yourself. Heck you can even call summit and they will hook ya up with what you need for a 1/8th inch guage tie into (Fass fuel lines are what 3/8ths??)

Ya see with a host of guages you can rule out a ton of things rather than making alot of expensive guesses. If you wrere to do this test again and say you saw 16 lbs of fuel pressure , egt's were at say 1400 , tons of soot , and had a LOW boost reading I would say check filter , interconnect hoses , gaskets etc. . So without some guage input it kinda can make it hard like Blackbird hunting at night , you can hear the bird ... . but that's bout it.

yes tim, there is a port now that you mention it on my fass, altough it is only a month old. is it one of the ports that just has a threaded pipe plug in it for no use? i guess i should get a fuel pressure guage, seeing that it is the only guage left for me to get that could help me out right now. thanks

hey, is the bd eliminator, what you guys are calling the bd rad? will that due away with the tack while in operation?

If you are getting the problem in all gears, the RAD will NOT fix that problem. The torque limiting only happens in 1 and 2nd gear.
