I have owned several powerstrokes, However I just traded in my last powerstroke and bought my first cummins, a 2002, 3500 Dually, automatic. Now I need some help. About a month after I bought it, it started missing, overheating and losing power. I took it to a trusted mechanic and he said the fuel filter was so clogged it was hardly flowing any fuel. He changed the filter and ran some injector cleaner through it, and it ran great for another month. Then it started again. I changed the filter and have ran several bottles of injector cleaner through it over a period of a couple weeks. Now it runs fine after I let it warm up for two or three minutes. However when I first start it, it misses, won't rev to 2000 RPMs and blows grey/white smoke. I put a fuel pressure gauge on it and the pressure is about 15 at idle, about 10 at 75mph. What could be my problem? Is my injector pump going out, are my injectors clogged?

Could be the injector pump. With the plugged fuel filter, the injector pump was being starved of excess fuel that is used for cooling. The injector pump will then overheat and greatly shorten the lifespan of (or fry) the electronics in the pump.

Have you checked for codes? (keyswitch off-on-off-on-off-on, then codes will display on the odometer) How many miles?

:( I checked the codes and got the 0216 code, guess that is bad from reading other posts. What is a good price for a new pump and a good place to get one? How hard is it to change?
