Won't shift, sometimes

Won't shift into second the first time I try to accelerate. Operating temp is not a factor. This happens after the truck has been turned off every time. After this happens once it will shift perfectly every time until I shut the truck off and try to go again. Off times can vary from one minute to an hour. It will hesitate going into second and I lift off the accelerator completely and it will shift. Full or part throttle it does the same thing. SteveinAZ

Neighbor says at times his started doing same thing last week. Won't upshift at all until foot removed from throttle and only in tow/haul. Works ok in normal position. Said he can cycle the key and its ok for a while.
