Won't shift

I just bought an '03 3500 with 170,000 miles. Sometimes, it will not shift into 2nd gear, and when it is doing this it downshifts very hard, this is intermittant. The transmission was serviced, just before I bought the truck. I took it to a local transmission shop, they said they were unable to communicate with the transmission. I installed a Bully Dog Triple Dog, could this be interfering with the scanner? Has anyone else had this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Try a dealer or another trans store.

On the '03 the transmission has a separate control module from the ECM.

The downloader has nothing to do with it, unless it's only doing it while on any power setting other than stock.

If it only does it with added power, perhaps there needs to be an adjustment on the kick-down cable and/or TPS.
