have 98. 5 24v dodge 3500 starts fine when cold or engine cools down. drive in hot weather and turn off, won't start again till engine cools off. anyone have ideas.

This can be caused by a bad board on the top of the VP44. Next time it happens, try cooling the black box off on top of the pump with water and see what happens.

Another possibility could be that your lift pump pressure is too high. I experienced that after installing a FASS and had to fix that.

I had the same problem and it turned out to be the VP. Never threw any codes till the day it just gave up the farm all of a sudden. Probably not the news you wanted to hear but that was what was up with mine.

There is a computer reflash for "hard starting when hot". I cant tell you what the reflash does but it works. And you will get the cold idle engine warming software too (and lose your oil pressure guage... )

I think the reflash keeps the lift pump from running while the engine is being cranked over.
