98, manual, vp44:

If it sits for a while it might start, but its really hard to start if it will at all.

Got pressure out of the fuel filter about 10psi so it appears that the fuel pump is working, is this a dieing injector pump?

Help please, TIA... ...

Does it start good after a short shut down? Like going in to a store and coming out and starting it up. And hard to start on long shut downs like a day or two?

If so, sounds like it's sucking air... fuel leak somewhere. JMO. Hope it helps.

ToM!

Can't get it to start to try and go to the store.....

Plenty of fuel coming out of fuel filter going to the injector pump, but if your careful and crack a line to an injector... . No pressure.....

I'm leaning towards a bad VP44. Dont have a code reader to see if any codes. .

It sat all night and this morning went out and tried to start it. It cranked and cranked and cranked and lo and behold it started. Ran apparantly okay. I made the mistake of shutting it off. Went into the house, came back about 15 mins later and it wont start... ... .

Any ideas?????? Anyone ??????

Sounds like either the fuel is sucking alot of air, the vp is going out, or the return valve is stuck open. if you have a fuel pressure gauge on it, then you can make sure that the pressure does not drop while you are trying to start it. I had to replace the vp on mine after the LP went out. Now I'm having some multiple crank starts! I'm thinking that my problem is the return valve. Check the pressure! You can barrow a code reader from Autozone! They charge you a deposit then give it back to you when you return it. All in all a good deal.

good luck

Well, return valve is okay and fuel lines are okay...

I don't think there is anything else but the vp..... can't get it to start again.

:(

How old are the batteries? When I had batteries going dead it started with a hard to start problem and finally wouldn't start. It would crank but wouldn't light off. Once I replaced the batteries it started right up.

Batteries test good, cables good, grounds good. Spins real well. Just wont fire off. I still think its the vp. Plenty of fuel coming out of the filter to the pump.
