wont start

89 auto, turns over but wont start. I will change the fuel filter tomarrow to eliminate bad fuel possibility. Next the fuel shutoff silinoid. where is a good place to purchase one? and what should one cost? I havn,t got around to cutting off the bracket so I think i,m in for some real fun. Help me out and thanks. #@$%!

You can buy solenoids on e-bay for about $30. If you search on here, there is a link to the seller. Check the power plug on the solenoid first, the spade is known to get loose and not have a good connection. Most guys change the spade to a ring terminal. Pull the wire, turn on the key, and touch the wire to the stud, you should hear it click. If not, pull the guts out and order a new one.

The bracket is easy to break off, I cut mine part way, then used a crescent wrench to bend it back and forth until it broke. It will break without cutting too, it just saved some labor.
